NUCLEAR ENERGY EDUCATION IN THE UNITED STATES
Nuclear energy is not "safe and clean" unless it is contained with containment system on containment system on containment system on back up system on back up system on back up system... Even under these conditions, safety and cleanliness of nuclear energy is subject to potential for human error, illness or weather causing a shortage in personnel, one or more mentally unstable or vindictive persons sabotaging operations, mechanical malfunction, and other unforeseen upset conditions.
You may have recently heard someone say that "nuclear energy is safe and clean." I have noticed that I haven't heard anyone working for state and federal health and environmental agencies agree with this statement. But I have heard many politicians, government employees in the US Department of Energy and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and people working for the nuclear industry carelessly make the statement of: "Nuclear energy is safe and clean."
In addition to the nuclear industry's infiltration into public education, and into the development of public policy with the false and misleading information, I have noticed a philosophy held by proponents of the nuclear industry that follows a guideline which makes it okay to hurt people so that others may profit.
Using the internet to analyze this phenomenon calls for the development of categories, including the following:

I have searched far and wide through web pages published by the US EPA, the
New Mexico Health and Environment Departments, and the US Public Health Services
with its Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry and its Center for
Disease Control and Prevention. I have not found any of them implying that
nuclear energy is safe and clean. - Frank McKinnon
